You get an answer, not an acknowledgement.

Send us one lane. In one working day you get back which of the five crossings we would route it through, the lead time on each, and what happens to your cargo when one of them closes. If we cannot serve it, that is in the same reply.

  • One working day— not one hour, and not next week
  • An answer either way— a price, or the reason there isn’t one

What actually happens

Your enquiry lands on a dispatcher’s desk.

Not in a queue, and not with someone whose job is to pass it along. The person who reads it can look at what is open this week, price it, and commit to it. That is the whole reason the answer comes back in a day instead of a fortnight.

A working rail dispatching desk: two widescreen monitors showing schematic track diagrams, a headset, an open notebook, a desk lamp and an office chair with a jacket over it, in a pale oak and grey micro-cement office

If your volume is below a block train, or the lane is one we do not run, we will tell you on the first reply rather than keep you warm. That is cheaper for both of us than finding out in week three.

Three desks, one company

Pick the one you came for.

The rail operation and the materials trade are run by different people and answer different questions. Going straight to the right desk saves you a hand-off.

Rail freight

Block trains across the Poland–Ukraine border, from about 2,000 tonnes. Grain, fertiliser, diesel, containers.

Four fields. If you already know the lane, put it in the message and you will get the routing plan back instead of a reply asking for it.

The other desk

Buying stone or aggregate? That is a different team.

United Multimodal also sells stone, grit and aggregate from stock in Poland, from one big bag upwards, to business buyers on a VAT invoice. It is a separate unit with its own people and its own number, so the channels below reach them and not the rail desk.

For rail, use the form above or . Full materials range on the materials page.

How can we help?

Pick a way to reach us. We answer during working hours.

You are talking to the UMS assistant. Please check its answers — a person confirms the price.

Where we are

The people are in Szczecin.

Warszawa is the registered address on the filings. Szczecin is the office you can walk into, and it is where the dispatchers sit. If you are coming to see us, come here.

Szczecin at golden hour: the Chrobry Embankment terraces above the Oder river, with the container cranes of the river port in the distance

Why Szczecin

Because the trade is on the doorstep.

A working port

Szczecin is a seaport on the Oder, not an inland office town. Ships, barges and container cranes are part of the skyline. The people who work here grew up around cargo.

Closer to Berlin than to Warszawa

About 140 km west to Berlin against roughly 520 km east to Warszawa. That puts the German network, the Baltic and the Oder waterway inside an easy morning.

Rail runs both ways from here

West into Germany, east across Poland to the Ukrainian border. Sitting at one end of the corridor rather than in the middle of the country is deliberate.

And it is a good place to be

The Chrobry Embankment above the river, parks through the middle of the city, and rents that let a small company keep experienced people. Nobody here is commuting two hours to a desk.
